My blog posts for the month of July will be related to the Cyber PD (online book study) of Vicki Vinton’s Dynamic Teaching for Deeper Reading. While reading the first 4 chapters I found myself agreeing, wondering, questioning, and sketchnoting. Here are my visual notes and wonderings for Chapters 1-4.
I love starting with a theoretical frame of reference, but I must say I am now eager to see what this looks like in practice.

I am always in awe of your sketch notes! I love the description of the reading process that Vicki Vinton describes in the book and you’ve included in your notes. I need to take more time to think about my own reading process and what I do as a reader, especially when I’m reading a text that is complex. It makes sense that in different parts of a text we are engaging in various ways of thinking as Vinton describes.
I love your sketch notes! I’ve been thinking about trying to incorporate more visuals into my note-taking practice! These are a great reference for all the wonderful ideas in this book.
These are amazing, Paula. They are not only beautiful and inspiring, but full of learning. One quick question: I see others use color in their sketchnotes. Do you only use black and white or do you vary your colors as well? These choices in authors craft for sketchnoting are fascinating to me!

I am playing with the idea of coloring as I use the ideas (or plan to) so it invites me to revisit more purposefullly. When the school year starts I want to go back in and reflect/plan from my notes. It’s an evolving process for me, but I love it.
